In this single session study we will discuss Christopher Nolan’s recently released blockbuster film of Homer’s Odyssey. We will consider how the film interprets the poem and explore the qualities of the central characters, as well as which elements of the plot were included and why. We will also debate the qualities the make an epic in film and literature.

Participants are expected to view Christopher Nolan’s film of The Odyssey before joining the study. The recommended edition of the book for this study is The Odyssey: A New Translation by Daniel Mendelsohn, but you are free to use any translation you like.
