Proust in Paris
Event Details
We have a last minute offer of a Proust trip to the City of Lights from Friday 13 to Monday 16 January 2023. This is being organized so that we can catch the last days of the Proust Exhibition at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. We currently have a reservation for a group of twelve to attend at 12.00 noon on Friday 13 January.

We have been offered special rates at the very lovely Proust-dedicated Hôtel Littéraire de Swann:
- Single room €170.00 per room per night (breakfast included)
- Double room €198.00 per room per night (breakfast included)
- City tax is an additional €2.88 per person per night
Please let Toby know if you would like to find a fellow Salonista with whom to share a room and she will do her best to match you.
Please note that the hotel cost, travel and transport, food and drink are NOT included in the Salon price of £150 for the weekend. We ask you to reserve a place with us and then contact the hotel directly to reserve your room at the special rate. For travel we recommend booking on Eurostar, although sometimes better deals can be found by air.
Additional activities: In addition to the visit to the Proust exhibition, we will organise one or more other exhibition offerings, as well as two dinners and a reception for our group at the hotel and a reception with the Paris Salonistas. There may also be a pilgrimage to the Père Lachaise Cemetery to visit Proust’s grave. These are optional and we will provide more details over the coming days.
Salon meeting: Once the other visits are scheduled, we will schedule a two-hour Salon style meeting. We will ask for all – or most – participants to select a particular passage from anywhere in the Search to read and reflect upon with the group.
Other optional excursions: The Carnavalet Museum to see Proust’s cork-lined room; his apartment building at 102 Boulevard Haussmann; the Salon Proust for high tea at the Ritz; lunch at Ladurée Paris Royale.
